When was the last time you gave a kiss to one of your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ? Not a Christian that was a member of your family or a significant other, but a Christian in your fellow assembling of the Body of Christ. Believe it or not, it was quite a common thing that Apostle Paul and Apostle Peter encouraged Christians to be doing with each other. (more…)

As Christians we’re always striving to seek some semblance of a closer connection with God in our daily lives. Whether it’s through our prayers, our readings of Scripture or weekly attendances at church, it’s all a means to which we try to get closer to God. One day I found myself pondering for more ways to get closer to God, and I recalled some occurrences in Scripture that I thought would be a uniquely spiritual experience to have with God someday. Perhaps after reading you may consider trying to attempt these experiences in your lifetime in an effort to have a deeper connection with God. (more…)

I’ve been writing on this blog for almost two years now. Along the way there’ve been of course a couple of long hiatuses in between my writings, but nonetheless, I’ve continued on because I see something very important in these posts. As I’ve stated previously, and bring this point up again, my purpose in having this blog is to help people believe and live their Christian beliefs more authentically according to Scripture. Or to play off of a political phrase we’re hearing a lot these days, I want to make Christianity authentic again. Sorry to all those who’ve been trying to avoid anything political lately, I couldn’t help myself. Of course Christianity has always been authentic. It’s the inauthenticity of some church teachings and practices of Christianity that’s the problem. So what would a return to authenticity mean? (more…)

As I was reading through the story of Adam and Eve, I found myself pondering things. Given according to Scripture these were the first humans ever to be in existence, perhaps they provide us a lot of interesting insights into who we are. Given this is the first recorded encounter that God ever had with humans, perhaps this account provides us with some insights of who God Is. There are many things that could come to mind when looking at the story of man’s creation and man’s fall. Let’s look through parts of this story, and I’ll share with you some thoughts that came to mind. At the end, you can feel free to share some of your thoughts. (more…)

I thought I’d share some of my tips for how I read scripture in hopes that it might be helpful to anyone in better understanding things. One central thing I do my best to be careful of when I read scripture is not seeing what I want to see. One should always strive to honestly and humbly seek to understand, teach, and live the Word the way God wants it to be understood, taught, and lived to the best that it can be understood. That especially requires individuals to look and read for themselves, not putting too much stock into what anyone says, but specifically what the Word of God states. This will be the theme of most of my tips, and it’s the way I strive to operate every time I write a blog post on here on a scriptural topic. (more…)

You’re just being a pharisee!

Oh the pharisees, such a unique collection of folks they were in Scripture.  As most casual churchgoers and Bible readers are familiar with, they were the chief critics of Christ. However, many mistakenly assume that the fact that they were critical, is the reason today that we look negatively upon them. As I was reading a critical comment on a Facebook status of the megachurch preacher Perry Noble, a member of their church responded to that person by accusing them of being a pharisee. Thus I was inspired to review this topic with you all today. (more…)

God, America, and Politics…

What is our duty and loyalty as followers of Christ as it pertains to political issues and American patriotism? Some argue that America is a land built on a Christian foundation, and that it is the chosen country much like the Israelites were the chosen ones. Some people believe that America needs to be restored to the Christian values it is said to have been founded upon or America will eventually face detrimental condemnation from God. Is it our duty to make an effort to institute Scriptural teachings into law before it’s too late? (more…)
