Is Saturday the End of the World?

end of the world

I debated whether I should even give this story anymore attention than it deserves, but since nothing else is on my mind, let’s talk about the end of the world. First of all, do you know how many times the world has been predicted to end on a certain date? The answer is more times than I cared to count, but here’s a list of the times for you. My estimate just from skimming down the list is probably about a hundred times. Guess we’ve been pretty lucky huh.

And there are actually more predictions to be proven wrong in the next couple of years. One for 2020, 2021, 2026, and then thankfully the next one after that we at least won’t have to think about until 2060. Though I doubt there won’t be at least one other person that comes up with a prediction before then.

My thoughts

I’m sure most of you already know the verse in scripture where no one will know the day or the hour, so I’m not gonna go over that. My thought really is why do people feel the need to predict the end of the world? The only thing I can think is these people who make these predictions probably don’t like their lives and just wish the world would end.

And honestly, if that was a really what they felt, I could empathize with that. Most of you reading this have probably lived life long enough to experience how much the world sucks sometimes. I’ve mentioned in a previous post before that I sometimes wouldn’t mind if the world would end. Believe it or not, I’ve even prayed for it to happen before, which maybe that sounds crazy to some, but I suppose that’s just the struggle of human existence at times.

End of the world conclusion

But to close on this topic, for anyone who worries about this, two things to remember. A. No person will ever know when God is going to end the world as we know it. B. Even if someone did know and it did happen, will that really be so much of a bad thing? I find it amusing when this topic comes up emotions move to hysteria and being prepared for the worst, when really, maybe it should be a time of celebration.

Peace to all those who are in Christ.

  1. I have always said, “If I knew the world was going to end tomorrow and I had a tree to plant today, I would plant my tree.” A lot of these predictions people get awfully rich off of because I remember some pastors taking all of the people’s money, then they all sit on a bench for days waiting, waiting and waiting. O-K-A-Y! πŸ™‚

We cannot live as if the world is coming to an end every moment of our lives. I do not feel like that is the way God wants us to live. The world could end for any of us at any given moment. If I died right now, the world would end for me. I think that is what we need to remember. We may go to bed tonight and not wake up tomorrow. We may wake up tomorrow and not go to bed tomorrow night.

The best thing we can do is serve God with what time we do have. Trust when Jesus does come it is going to be the right moment in time. Live each and every moment in as much happiness that we can, loving and caring for one another to the best of our ability. Always keeping in our hearts Jesus died so that we all have a chance of meeting God face to face. It does not get any better than that, does it??? Good post as always. God Bless, SR

    1. Hi SR. Thanks for your comment. All very well stated. Don’t think I can add much more thought to it except that I appreciate your sharing of your perspective as always.

      Peace in Christ.

  2. I still think we have a long way to go to get The Word out. I know there’s a lot of work left for me personally to do.

God has decided the When and How of it all, and that’s the most reassuring part for me.

    1. Hi edgingdeadness. Thanks for your comment. I hope you’ll be able to get whatever work you have left to do done. Yes, it’s reassuring that God has it all planned out and that those who are saved will be taken care of in the end.

      Peace in Christ.

  3. If the world ends Saturday, we won’t get to go to church. πŸ™
We should live every day as though it could be our last.
Keep preaching the good news. So many need it! God love you!

    1. Hi HisFamilyTable. Thanks for your comment. Yes, that’s something I try to remember even in my desires I’ve had at times. Plenty of lost people still out there that hopefully will become saved.

      Peace in Christ.
