Why You Should Change Your Belief More Often

Last updated on November 11th, 2019

Do you ever change your belief about something? When was the last time you admitted you were wrong? I like to think there’s an art to correcting people. Everybody likes being right, and nobody likes being wrong. But what happens if everybody always thinks they’re right? And nobody ever sees they’re wrong? That can make spreading the Gospel of Christ hard. (more…)

Last updated on November 2nd, 2019

First and foremost, prayers of comfort and healing to all those mourning the death of Billy Graham. I know Billy Graham’s sermons created a special connection with millions of people around the world. Today they’re all feeling the pain of his loss right now. Let’s talk about being an authentic disciple. By the way, for those who may wonder why I keep using this image in my last few posts, it’s an image of the ancient city of Philippi. So in the second chapter of Philippians we discussed the emphasis Paul put on unity and obedience in Christ. In this third chapter division of Paul’s letter to the Philippians, the primary emphasis shifts towards being aware of those who are not authentic disciples of Christ, and how to exemplify being an authentic disciple of Christ. Greetings my fellow facttruthers. I hope you all have been continuing to study the Word for yourselves and make your own conclusions as to what accurate Christian beliefs you should hold. Preach the Word was what Paul instructed to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2. In many verses throughout scripture there appear to be suggestions given of what a preacher is supposed to preach. The theme appears to always center around sticking to the teachings in scripture, and deviating from it as little as possible. However, in my observation of popular churches in American culture today, many of them are becoming less and less focused on scriptural teaching, and more and more focused on personal anecdotes and motivational speeches.  Picking and choosing verses here and there out of context to formulate one’s own original message, rather than letting Scripture be the messenger. I won’t name names of preachers or churches, but I’m sure some popular ones today can immediately come to mind. So I thought it’d be more important to show the ideas that scripture seems to present of what kind of preaching a preacher is supposed to give you, and you can determine for yourself whether the church you currently assemble with reflects that, or if perhaps that you need to make a change. You’re just being a pharisee!

Oh the pharisees, such a unique collection of folks they were in Scripture.  As most casual churchgoers and Bible readers are familiar with, they were the chief critics of Christ. However, many mistakenly assume that the fact that they were critical, is the reason today that we look negatively upon them. As I was reading a critical comment on a Facebook status of the megachurch preacher Perry Noble, a member of their church responded to that person by accusing them of being a pharisee. Thus I was inspired to review this topic with you all today. (more…)
