Well Christians, we’re just two weeks away from the Presidential election. Two weeks, then it’s all over until the circus comes back to town 4 years later. The election will either bring us President Trump or President Clinton. I’m going to tell you something some would say I probably shouldn’t. I’ll say it anyway. Are you ready? It does not matter who gets elected.

In Response To Christian Mom “Norf Norf” Rant

A Christian Mom recently posted a video rant that’s gone viral about a song titled Norf Norf by Vince Staples. If you’d like to view the rant for yourselves, you can click here. But to summarize, her 11 year old daughter wanted to listen to a radio station that played the popular music hits of today. The mother states she doesn’t care for that preferring Christian music, but willingly obliged for her daughter. She didn’t have any problem with the songs she heard until after she dropped her daughter off and the aforementioned song played. After hearing it she was furious and vowed to never let her daughter listen to that station again. The mother proceeded to recite the lyrics and express disbelief as to what kids were listening to today. She concludes by calling on parents to pray for their youth. While she has a right to be concerned about whatever messages she wants her daughter listening to, some of her points perhaps lacks some understanding and context. (more…)

The Police, African-Americans, and Emotional Irrationality

I intended to write on a passage in Acts today on correction, but a recent news story has compelled me to take my opportunity to address a social issue for the first time in one of my posts. As you may or may not have read yet, unfortunately there’s been another moment of confrontation between the police and an African-American citizen. The story is still fresh, but as the current facts I read that have been reported, an 18 year old African-American male was being questioned by officers in St. Louis, and then apparently pulled out a gun. The officer responded by firing at the teen and he was killed. Unfortunately this began yet another protest that the media surely enjoys broadcasting for ratings. It can be difficult to get a firm grasp on an issue so high in emotions, and perhaps that’s the problem. I understand when an issue involves deaths; emotions will always be difficult to control.
